SensiML and Infineon Team Up to Add AI for PSoC™ 6 MCUs

We just announced that SensiML has teamed up with Infineon Technologies AG to deliver a complete AI/ML solution for the Infineon PSoC™ 6 family of microcontrollers (MCUs) and XENSIV™ sensors.  This is great news for Infineon customers as they can now use SensiML’s tools to easily create intelligent IoT endpoints using the ultra-low power and versatile dual-core PSoC devices.

SensiML solves two key pain points encountered by developers implementing AI at the IoT edge.  First, SensiML’s automated data collection and labeling application takes the tedium and effort out of developing high quality ML datasets thus lowering the risk for ‘garbage in, garbage out’ models.  Second, SensiML’s AutoML engine drastically reduces the data science expertise required and time involved to produce optimized, high-accuracy AI inference code for the IoT edge.  The result is AI code that fits on the device, produces accurate results, and can be built by developers possessing minimal AI expertise.

Infineon has a large and loyal following spanning a diverse array of applications from smart home and buildings to industrial monitoring, consumer wearables, and others.  In addition, Infineon’s broad portfolio of XENSIV™ sensors spanning magnetic, current, pressure, acoustic, and radar sensors expand the possibilities for transforming real-world physical measurements into true AI-powered application insight using SensiML tools.

Our SensiML Analytics Toolkit edge AI development software can now work together with the Infineon ModusToolbox™, offering developers a quick and easy way to record data from Infineon XENSIV sensors, create sophisticated AI/ML-based models, and implement them in customized applications running on PSoC™ 6 MCUs. Using this approach, developers can quickly add local intelligence to their IoT designs without having to spend months or years dealing with a steep learning curve applying common AI frameworks.

To kick off the relationship, the two companies have also announced a new contest on hackster.io called “Build AI for the IoT”.  The contest appeals to innovative developers to create intelligent IoT endpoint applications using the SensiML Data Analytics Toolkit, Infineon ModusToolbox™, XENSIV™ sensors, AIROC™ Wi-Fi & Bluetooth connectivity ICs, and PSoC™ 6 MCUs.   Using SensiML’s free Community Edition version, participants will be able to capture and label sensor data, train AI/ML models, and deploy the resulting AI/ML solution on a PSoC™ 6 MCU to rapidly create intelligent endpoint applications.

Overall, the combination of tools, devices, and sensors that the two companies offer provide a comprehensive platform for smart IoT product development.  Try it out by downloading the evaluation software from SensiML and Infineon and start creating your next-generation IoT application.
